Meet Our Columnists
Published 9 October 2026
Meet the people and the columns that will shape Momentum, week by week.
Editor's note
From this issue, Momentum is written by a group of contributors, each bringing their own experience and their own way of seeing things. Here, they introduce themselves and the columns you will find in Momentum. Our founder, Tom Sanders, writes Tom's Tips, Kerl Haslam opens Kerl's Pearls, Natalie Wilson begins Neuroscience with Natalie, Marc Rowley sets out Leadership with Marc, and our apprentices take over The Voice of the Youth. We hope you find a voice here that speaks to you, and that one day you will add your own.

Kerl's Pearls
By Kerl Haslam, Chairman, TheThresholdCollective
I'm Kerl Haslam, Chairman of TheThresholdCollective, with more than 40 years of boardroom experience and a lifetime of lessons learned through business, leadership and life.
My career has taken me through many different roles and experiences, including serving as an Ambassador for Visionary Planning at Orange and as CEO of SportsAble. Along the way, I've experienced successes, challenges and, importantly, failures, and I believe there is something valuable to be learned from all three.
Over the years, the stories, lessons and observations I've collected have become affectionately known as Kerl's Pearls.
Kerl's Pearls is simply my way of looking at the world and sharing what I've learned. Sometimes that comes through a story, sometimes through a memorable quote, and sometimes through a lesson I learned the hard way.
In each edition of Momentum, I'll share a different Pearl, drawing on my experiences of life, business, leadership, resilience and the people I've met along the way.
I don't believe we have to make life or business more complicated than it needs to be. Sometimes, a different perspective is all it takes.
So, if you need a little help navigating life or business, Kerl's Pearls is your starter for ten.

Neuroscience with Natalie
By Natalie Wilson, CMO, TheThresholdCollective; Founder, Successia Group Ltd
Hi, I'm Natalie, and welcome to Neuroscience with Natalie.
I'm the CMO of TheThresholdCollective, the founder of Successia Group, an award-winning digital marketing agency, and an educator.
Alongside my career, I've pursued my fascination with the human mind, gaining a specialist certification in Neuroscience with Counselling and Psychology.
And behind all of those titles, I'm also a mum to two teenage girls, probably one of the most interesting lessons in human behaviour there is!
At the heart of everything I do is a genuine fascination with people.
I love understanding why we think the way we do, why we behave in certain ways, what influences the decisions we make, and why we can sometimes know something logically, yet still feel or behave completely differently.
That fascination has followed me throughout my career.
Working in marketing naturally led me towards consumer psychology: understanding what captures our attention, what creates emotion, what builds trust and what ultimately influences human decision-making.
But my interest goes much further than marketing.
I'm fascinated by the brain itself: the way our experiences shape us, why we develop certain patterns of behaviour, what happens when we're stressed or overwhelmed, and how understanding what's happening inside our brains can sometimes help us make a little more sense of ourselves.
And that's really where Neuroscience with Natalie comes from.
I want to take topics that can sometimes sound complicated and make them simple, interesting and relevant to everyday life.
Why do we overthink?
Why can our brains become so focused on a problem that it feels impossible to see beyond it?
Why are some habits so difficult to break?
What happens in our brains when we're stressed or overwhelmed?
What influences our motivation and decision-making?
And what impact are technology, social media and artificial intelligence having on the way we think and feel?
These are the kinds of questions we'll explore.
There will always be science and research behind what we discuss, but you won't need a science degree to understand it. I want you to be able to read an article and come away understanding something about your own brain or behaviour that you didn't understand before.
Some weeks we'll explore emotions, habits and stress. Others will take us into decision-making, consumer psychology, relationships, technology and the evolving relationship between the human brain and AI.
Ultimately, though, Neuroscience with Natalie comes back to something I've been fascinated by for years:
People.
How we think.
How we feel.
How we behave.
And why.
Welcome to Neuroscience with Natalie.
I'm excited to see where we take it.

Leadership with Marc
Why Better Leadership Starts With Better Humans
By Marc Rowley, Head of Ethics, TheThresholdCollective; Founder, HIT Leadership
Leadership is often measured by results.
Targets hit. Revenue generated. Projects delivered. Teams performing.
But behind every one of those outcomes is something far more important: people.
I'm Marc Rowley, Head of Ethics at TheThresholdCollective, and each week in Momentum, I'll be exploring leadership through a very human lens.
Over more than 30 years working across leadership, IT service management, organisational transformation, customer experience and employee engagement, I have seen organisations at their very best and during some of their most difficult periods.
I have led teams through major transformation, supported organisations through periods of rapid growth, worked with senior leaders, trained medical professionals, helped improve customer and employee engagement, and delivered mental resilience programmes designed to help people recognise and respond to stress and burnout.
And throughout all of it, one thing has remained consistent:
The strongest organisations are built by people who understand people.
What Leadership with Marc Will Explore
Every week, Leadership with Marc will explore the realities of modern leadership and workplace culture.
We will look at subjects such as employee engagement, burnout, communication, resilience, workplace relationships, organisational culture, productivity, psychological safety, customer experience and the growing influence of technology and AI.
But I don't want this column to become another collection of leadership buzzwords.
I want it to be practical.
Sometimes I will draw on more than three decades of leadership experience. Sometimes I will challenge conventional thinking. Sometimes I will share tools that you can take directly into your own workplace.
And sometimes I may simply ask a question that makes you reconsider how you lead.
Because leadership isn't about having every answer.
Quite often, it starts with being willing to ask better questions.
Marc Rowley, Head of Ethics, TheThresholdCollective; Founder, HIT Leadership
The Voice of the Youth
By TheThresholdCollective
Young people are often talked about. We want to create a space where they can speak for themselves.
Welcome to The Voice of the Youth, a collaborative column written by the apprentices at TheThresholdCollective.
This is their space to share their thoughts, experiences and opinions on the things that matter to them. There isn't one set subject or one particular direction they have to follow. Instead, we want to give them the freedom to talk openly about the world as they experience it.
That might mean discussing mental health, education, work, social media, technology, relationships or the pressures young people face today.
It might be something they believe needs to change, something they feel isn't talked about enough, or simply something positive happening in their lives or communities that they want to celebrate.
Most importantly, The Voice of the Youth is theirs.
Each week, our apprentices will collaborate to decide what they want to talk about and what they want people to hear.
Their voice. Their experiences. Their column.
Going forward, The Voice of the Youth will be shaped by them.
They'll have the opportunity to talk about what's affecting young people right now, what they're enjoying, what they're struggling with, what they think needs to change and what they want older generations, organisations and society to understand.
Sometimes they might agree. Sometimes they might have completely different perspectives, and that's exactly the point.
There isn't one single voice of youth.
There are different experiences, opinions, ideas and ambitions, and this column is a place for those voices to be heard.
So, over to them.
Welcome to The Voice of the Youth.
This Is Just the Beginning
